Luis Belloch in Pointer to (void) writes about the recent press conference that Microsoft and Sun help jointly in Palo Alto. A year after their agreement to collaborate, they did not announce the fusion of the .NET and Java platforms, but made some moves towards a common approach to security. jbravo in Programando... informs us that he is in the process of building a web application where some of the information needs to be visualized in a tree structure. He found several Javascript libraries that do this, but in his case the tree is too large and he wants to display a portion of the tree as the user navigates down it. He has now found XLoadTree which is highly configurable and appears to do the job. Its best feature is the use of XMLHTTPRequest to populate the level of the hierarchy only when the user needs to see it. [Sounds like an example of the highly popular AJAX architecture that so many have been raving about recently] jleyva in Métricas Web passes on an e-mail from the Apache Foundation informing us that the Apache Harmony project has now been approved. jleyva in Métricas Web summarizes the current status of the Apache Harmony project for his Spanish readers. English readers can co to the Harmony Wiki to find out more. |
