Cesar Tardaguila in design-nation gives us a link to a list of monospaced fonts that are specially designed for programmers. mig21 in Yet Another Programming Weblog enjoyed the article "Syndromes of Forgotten Programmers" in developerdotstar. After reading this and the well known "How To Write Unmaintainable Code" we have a good idea about what we should not be doing. [Meanwhile in the forum, there is a lot of discussion about what seminal texts the community wants to translate into Spanish. The juanjo is going for the famous No Silver Bullet by Frederick P. Brooks, Jr. But then José Luis found a translation of What if there's a Silver Bullet... by Brad Cox. Another work in this series is No Silver Bullet Revisted again by Brad Cox.] Javier Gutiérrez Chamorro (Guti) in Bitácora de Guti reports on a new service, GeoURL, that allows you to find URLs by their proximity to a given location. This service can be used to find other sites that are geographically nearby. To add yourself to the database, just set up your latitude and longitude in a meta tag and inform the GeoURL server. Clicking on the world map or entering a URL will then bring up a list of sites near to your location. Don't forget to tell others about it! |
