Returning to C: using libcdio and extending Ruby (Volviendo a C: Usando libcdio y extendiendo a Ruby)

clbustos in  Php y otras yerbas writes that all his latest personal projects have been built in Ruby, a language that he really likes. However as with all interpreted and relatively new languages, Ruby does not have a huge selection of libraries. This is affecting his latest project; to catalog his collection of digital media. There is a program for windows called  MediaMonkey that does what he wants, but nothing comparable for the Linux platform. The latest problem that he is trying to solve is how to extract the label information and the hash from a CD.

New versions of software and re-styling the logo (actualización de programas y reestiling del logo)

José Luis Sánchez Navarro in  avemundi tells us that he is updating his web site,  alanit, with the latest versions of  Cuaderno de Bitácora (inventory of personal information and collections of disks, videos, books etc.) and  Colossus (management of passwords). The latest version of Cuaderno de Bitácora has a new system of registration that does not tie the program to a specific machine. The latest version of Colossus now works in Windows98 and Win2000 as well as XP. He is thinking of collaborating with  Softonic in order to facilitate the distribution of these programs. Softonic is the "7th most visited Spanish web site according to AIMC 2004" and distributes a wide range of software titles. The latest change to the alanit web site is a re-styling of the logo and is inviting comments.
