Rincew in a luna ilumina... has been looking at text editors that can be integrated into a PHP application and allow editing in the context of a web page. He has found the site, HtmlArea that lists a large number of these. Although he liked the idea of Spaw best, he couldn't get it to work in his environment. So he finally chose HtmlArea from Dynarch that has a good number of features, is released under the BSD license and has a plug-in architecture that allows others to develop new features such as the functionality to introduce images into the text. HtmlArea is integrated into the e-learning system, Moodle.
