Javier Gutiérrez Chamorro (Guti) in Bitácora de Guti claims that Microsoft created a version of Visual Basic to run in the DOS environment called Visual Basic for DOS (VBDOS). He shows a screen shot with text based form tools. In the backroom, Alberto Molpeceres , author of Y si hablamos de... gives a short bio: My name is Alberto Molpeeceres but in the Internet world I am known as “Al de javaHispano”. I founded this site, now a non profit making organization, but for a little while I have not been much involved. I usually work in Java but lately have been doing a lot of other things.
