jleyva in Métricas Web continues his series on web metrics with a summary of the metric: web page search and retrieval. Web page search and retrieval metrics measure and compare the processes of sending and retrieving of information. There are two categories: rfog in Diario de un Programador contrasts the Microsoft official view put forward by Steve Texeira, Director of Partner Strategy for Microsoft Visual C++ that Microsoft will continue to support and improve the MFC with the view of Larry Osterman that there are issues when dealing with the End Of Life of an API. Anyone interested in the topic should read the whole of the responses to Larry's article which make a number of rational and reasonable observations. Jose A. Suárez in chochurro reports on a seminar on free software that was held in the Chamber of Commerce of Jerez de la Frontera near Cadiz recently. The presentations were on the advantages of free software, the large number of programs available, and on the creation of free software. The author of Retrato en Sepia describes how to undo/redo any user action by applying the Command pattern. Infinite undo/redo is also described in a series of UML diagrams. rfog in Diario de un Programador speculates on the support by Borland of the C++ language in its Borland C++ 2005. He wonders if it will support refactoring, a functionality that Microsoft have apparently not been able to achieve in their product. What does appear clear is that only Win32 is supported and not .NET. Juanjo Navarro in más que código announces that he has posted an article in Version Zero that discusses the function and utility of the various methodologies that have been appearing in recent years. As a not insignificant inducement to click on the link, the article has a photo of Juanjo where he is not lying down and not wearing a dickie bow (tie). |
