Static and dynamic typing: The end of the cold war?

Tipos estáticos y dinámicos ¿el fin de la guerra fría? mig21 in  Yet Another Programming Weblog posts a link to the paper by  Erik Meijer and Peter Drayton ,  "Static Typing Where Possible, Dynamic Typing When Needed: The End of the Cold War Between Programming Languages" (pdf) and to the discussion on Lambda the Ultimate where the interest generated by the article shows that the war is definitely not over.
