Creation of foreign keys
altas de claves ajenas. José Luis Sánchez Navarro in avemundi writes that one of the new functionalities that he is introducing into the new versions of his programs is the creation of foreign keys. In quite a lot of software, in order to pick an item from a list, you have to set up the list first. This can cause a sense of frustration when you are entering important data and suddenly find you have to stop and set up a new value for the lookup list. In his new programs, he is going to allow the user to enter a new value directly into the lookup list and once confirmed, the new value will be created in the lookup table without interrupting the data entry task.
Naming of identifiers
Nomenclatura de identificadores. Jaime Irurzun in código escrito makes an effort to name his identifiers appropriately. One of his problems which English speaking programmers will not share is whether to name the identifier in English, Spanglish or Spanish. Until now he has been using Spanglish, creating names like, "SetClave", which will please neither English nor Spanish programmers. He is settling on all Spanish identifiers for now.
Prefetch Google Ads for Opera
Prefetch Google Ads para Opera. Javier Gutiérrez Chamorro (Guti) in Bitácora de Guti started from Google ad prefetch, a Greasemonkey user script that fetches pages linked from Google Ads, and created a javascript for Opera 8 to do the same thing. This is available as google_ad_prefetch.user.js for download. Unfortunately, the script does not work in Opera 8.01 and 8.02 where a patch was applied to fix a security problem with cross-domain execution of XMLHttpRequest.

The case of MiniGUI: is there a hole in GPL?
El caso MiniGUI: ¿agujero GPL?.Jaime Irurzun in código escrito reports that the licence for MiniGUI, a GUI for xHarbour has recently changed from GPL to Freeware. Although GPL is a good licence, there seems to be a problem with it when it can be changed at any moment. It's a stab in the back to change the foundations of a project once you have captured a user group who now have no real option but to accept the change.
