posts a link to an article, Gestión
y procesos en empresas de software (Management and processes in
software companies), that attempts to summarise the various methods
that are used in the management of the development of software: CMMI,
ISO 15504, Scrum, Extreme Programming, DSDM, MSF, RUP, PMI, etc. and
presents a high level vision for senior management of software
companies. Below is a translation of the introduction: Companies that develop software cannot
ignore that their business is the business of software and that the
model that each chooses for the development and maintenance of
software has significant implications for the general efficiency of
the business. The problem is that whoever wants to
introduce more efficient methods may become disorientated by the
plethora of quality models and work processes that have been launched
in the last decade, or they may grasp at the first one that comes to
their attention as the solution to the problems of efficiency and
quality in their enterprise. This article presents a high level map
of the general situation for technical directors, heads of software
departments and executives of organisations. The view presented here shows how the
production environment as a whole is a complex system in which its
components must be designed to cooperate and function together and
align with the characteristics, culture and strategy of the
organisation. |
