comments on the post, Does
Spain also develop software? in Ricardo
Galli, de software libre which is a comment on an article, Spain
also develops software that appeared in CincoDías.com.
It appears that the majority of software in Spain is created by PYMES
(small and medium size enterprises) in consultancies as bespoke
systems. There is very little shrink wrapped software being created
either in Spain or in France and Germany. It follows that the
creation of open source software is for the purpose of reducing costs
and is not [yet] and area of great innovation in Spain. The only
other country in the world that develops software to any extent,
apart from the United States, is India where the high investment in
training and the low costs of development owing to the low cost of
living have contributed to the emergence of a home grown software
industry. Joserra posts a link to the recent article, Inequality
and risk by Paul Graham which argues that innovation occurs when
people can and are willing to take high risks to make themselves
wealthy. |
